Wow where has March gone, April Fools’ Day is almost here and at long last I am going to share the recipe for Fabulous Fanny’s April Fools’ prank. This particular item became well know in our region but she was still able to catch the same person with this treat for over a dozen years. My family has served this candy for years at our schools, offices, dinners and parties with great success. Now it is time for you all to join in the fun and laughs on Fabulous Fanny’s favorite day.
Here are the ingredients and steps to making the delicious Fabulous Fanny’s April Fools’ Day Candy. It is simple and fun, you will need some cotton balls; semi-sweet chocolate chips, and household paraffin wax.
Gather your ingredients, then chop up the wax in to small pieces:
Mix the cut pieces of wax with the chocolate chips, usually a one to one ratio:
Then melt the wax and chocolate using a double boiler:
Once the wax and chocolate have melted drop a cotton ball in to the mixture and fully cover the cotton ball:
Place on rack to cool:
As they cool you will want to spoon some more chocolate wax mixture over them as first coat is not so appealing. At this point you can also decorate your candy with items of your liking. I have shown a few examples with sprinkles, almonds and chocolate chips but be creative and make them pretty. NOTE: make the candy large, at least two bite size and not a small size to prevent people from putting the whole piece of candy in their mouth.
After they are all cool arrange them on a plate or old candy box and serve.
Once they have taken a bite wish them a Happy April Fools’!
This candy is so wonderful that I have seen people eat the chocolate off of the cotton ball, yes really. I know you all will have a lot of fun with this candy and enjoy the looks people will get on their face as well as share in a big laugh.
Wishing you all a Fabulous April Fools’s Day
