I hope everyone is having a great summer. A time of fabulous family vacations, company picnics and family reunions.
Thinking about this time of year I recalled the time my dad’s office had their company picnic at a state park and while we were at one pavilion there was a family reunion at the pavilion next to us. (The pavilions looked something like the one in the photo below) I do not remember the real name of the family holding the reunion, could have been Harper, but I do know that it was not a name I remembered mom ever talking about being in our family tree.
At some point while we were setting up mom spotted a beautiful homemade pecan pie (much like the one in the photo below) on one of the tables over at the pavilion for the family reunion. As you may recall pecan pie was mom’s favorite dessert, especially a homemade one, as long as a roach did not crawl across it she was on a mission to taste that pie.
Well next thing I knew mom, with the ability to talk to anyone, was over at their pavilion talking to one of the older women and found out their last name, family history and so forth. After about ten minutes I hear mom start off on some story of how our families were possibly linked. This went on for a few more minutes and a number of big laughs and mom comes back to our pavilion with a slice of that pecan pie.
Wishing you all a fabulous summer and enjoy your picnics!
